Why wont it let me go to crawmerax's lair in Borderlands?

I am a hunter level 55 and i would like to get to 69 very fast, my friends suggested fighting crawmerax. but when I go to where his lair is, the teleporter will no show up and the mission will not show up on the bounty board. please help!
